Giourgia sta paliouria (Thessalikos) Γιούργια στα παλιούρια (Θεσσαλικός) Open circle facing diagonally right, palms joined with elbows bent.
Kangeli Καγκέλι Starts in a closed circle with palms joined; later the dancers split into couples.
Kalamatianos Καλαματιανός 7/8 · Open circle, mixed, hands joined at shoulder height with elbows bent; the leader often holds the second dancer by a handkerchief and improvises.
Karagouna Καραγκούνα 2/4 · Open circle, mixed, facing the centre, with the kalamatianos hold (palms joined, elbows bent).

In Thessaly, ensembles of clarinet, violin, laouto and santouri play at the festivals of the plain and the mountains. The plain has the karagouna and the heavy, dragging svarniara, Mount Pelion the pilioritikos, and the Agrafa mountains Easter dances such as the kleistos of Argithea and the tai-tai. Many dances are tied to customs, such as the Epiphany rounds of the rougatsiaria or the bride's dance at a wedding.
