Character
Who dances it: Everyone
Thrace's signature dance, named after its hold: dancers grip each other's belts (zonari). It is danced with bent knees in an open circle led by the men, and as it builds the leader winds it into a spiral (koulouriastos). With dragging steps it is called douzkos, and its fast, hopping part is called tsestos. Sources give the meter as 6/8, sometimes written as 2/4.
