Character

Who dances it: Everyone

An improvised dance in 2/4, related to belly dance, danced solo or by couples facing each other, with movements of the hips, shoulders and arms. The name means 'double string', after a way of tuning the violin. It came to Greece mainly with the refugees of 1922–1923 and became, with the zeibekiko, one of the most popular dances at any celebration.
