Character
Who dances it: Couples
A courtship dance for one or more couples from Rethymno, with small bouncing steps, as if pushed by a spring. The name probably comes from the Italian susta (spring), from the period of Venetian rule. The dance is said to tell a love story, from first meeting to marriage. Its steps are unrelated to the soustas of the Dodecanese.
