Character

Who dances it: Men

A men's war dance from the Trapezounta (Trabzon) area, most likely named after the Serra river. It starts in 7/16 and becomes an even meter as it speeds up, with intense trembling of the torso, strong stamps and drops to the knee; today it usually follows the atsiapat. Tradition links it to the ancient pyrrhic dance, and in 2022 it was added to Greece's National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
