Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A fast mixed dance with lots of knee movement, from Argyroupoli (Gümüşhane) but danced across Pontus. In the east it was called pipilomatena after the song about the girl with small eyes; in the west patoula, a plump, fair-skinned girl, the ideal of beauty at the time. A variant from Galiana is the 'kori kopela'.
