Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A family of calm Pontic dances; 'omal' means 'smooth' or 'regular', since the steps are simple, without jumps or stamps. Omal monon (aplon), with six steps, is considered the easiest Pontic dance and was danced in Argyroupoli, Trapezounta and elsewhere. The omal of Kars (or Garasari) is in 2/4, while the 9/8 omal of Trapezounta is the dipat.
