Character

Who dances it: Everyone

A men's dance of Naousa and one of the set dances of the 'Genitsari and Boules' carnival custom. The masked groups dance it at their stops at the town's crossroads, to zourna and daouli. Tradition derives the name from the 'nizam', armed Ottoman tax collectors whom the people of Naousa tried to appease with the dance.
