Character

Who dances it: Everyone

The most widespread dance of Florina, also called poustseno or lytos ('loose'); at local weddings it often opens the dancing. The basic step spans three musical measures with uneven hops, starting smooth and growing bouncy. Sources give the meter as 12/8 (3+2+2+3+2) or 16/8, depending on the tune. The leader improvises freely with turns, kneels and foot slaps.
