Character
Who dances it: Couples
An urban dance of Corfu town with Italian roots: the name is linked to the forlana of Friuli or, in another reading, to 'fourla', a quick spin. It is danced by couples facing each other, to a set choreography established by cultural associations in recent decades. After the Second World War the tune spread to the villages, mainly at carnival; today it is mostly seen in performances and rarely at village festivals.
